100 books within the year.
Starting January 1, 2011.
Ending December 31, 2011.
That’s 365 days, so about 3.65 days per book.

Lofty? Yes.
Worth it? Also yes.

The rule is that it cannot be a book that I’ve already read.

As for the title, One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of my favorite books, and I figured that reading 100 books in only a year will wind up providing me with a great deal of solitude. Please allow me to toot my own horn for being so clever.

I saw that Voltaire's Candide is in your 'might be on the list' pile-- just wanted to weigh in and say how great of a work it is, especially if you take the time to read all the footnotes and references.

PS: I love the 100 books in a year idea (And your title. Marquez rocks) and hope you succeed!

The reason that I am hesitant is because it has a lot of substance to it…it’s pretty dense and I DO want to be able to take time with it. We will see what happens when I make my final list.

And thank you!
